Our Experience

Yoga Retreats, Re-Designed. “FIND YOUR OASIS” Yoga Retreat in Sri Lanka – 6 days of yoga for beginners to advanced with Cynthia Wong, delicious vegan cooking, stunning beaches, surfing lesson/practice, a safari trip to Udewalewe National Park, pool time, mala necklace workshop, cacao, new moon circle, meditation, journaling, and so so much more as always with Ananda Vibes Yoga Adventure Retreats!

Discover some of the best of the southern coast of Sri Lanka as you feed your wanderlust spirit and live your inner adventurer.Come to build conscious connections with your body, mind, soul, mother nature, and other like-minded people from across the world. New or experienced in yoga, doesn’t matter – classes are adapted to all levels, with challenges for growth.

Our Adventures

Ocean – On Day 2, we will practice riding the world renowned Sri Lankan waves and discover how many life lessons this active meditation can offer us! The beach is a few minutes from our home, and we may have some more water activities in the works!

Wildlife – On Day 4, we’ll take a morning trip north to Udewalewe National Park where we’ll sneak up in our 4x4 to witness and learn about so many wildlife species including elephants, birds, monkeys, water buffalos, and so much more.

Within – Each day we’ll go within, through yoga and sometimes with journaling, a cacao ceremony, a new moon circle, and an intention filled mala necklace making workshop with a combination of 108 rudraksha prayer beads and crystal beads… our aim is to challenge ourselves to grow while having fun in the process!

Our Nourishment

To cleanse, nourish, and feed our souls, included in this retreat will be delicious brunches and dinners, prepared with locally grown produce picked up daily from the local market. Sneak peek at our gluten free brunches by Lust Yoga: vegan pancakes, chia pudding, coconut pudding, gluten free bread, fresh fruit, juice, coffee, famous Ceylon tea, etc. Oh and did we mention a freshly cut coconut every afternoon?
Head chef for dinner will be our Ananda Vibes Family Vegan Chef Amy Cunningham… who also happens to be a stellar yoga teacher and masseuse from AUS and based in Malaysia! She will also guide us through an Ashtanga primary series class one morning, and private deep tissue or sports massages can be booked. We’ll get some vegan cooking hacks as will prepare a dinner together one evening – sort of like our own little tropical Thanksgiving in March!

Our Home

Tucked away at the southern coast of the island, just 2.5-3 hours from the Colombo airport, we’ll have the sustainable living precious hidden gem LUST Yoga & Surf VILLA just for us in Ahangama, an authentic Sri Lankan buddhist village.

More than just Instagram worthy, this spacious home includes an open air outdoor yoga shala and pool, located just minutes away from unspoiled beaches, surf spots, and coral reefs. Brought to life by Swedish owners, parents, yoga teachers and surfers, Mikaela and Johann, this beautiful oasis will give you inspired vibes of being held and of creating your dream lives. We can’t wait for you to meet them as well!

Our Family

A Yogi on a Mission

Cynthia is on a mission to empower people to become who they truly are. She sees yoga, traveling, and yoga adventure retreats as transformative tools to re-connect to ourselves and step into the person we’ve always known we can be. Her passion is creating experimental events and journeys through senses, breath, movement, environment, music while building conscious strong communities.

Cynthia’s received 4 yoga certifications in Bali – 200hr Vinyasa Yoga and 20hr Standup Paddleboard Yoga in 2015, 85hr Pre/Postnatal Vinyasa Yoga in 2017, and 200hr Shamanic Yoga & Restorative Yoga in 2018. She believes nothing compares to being in nature, and over the years has taught some 150 classes, outdoors across 12 cities and islands.

While born and raised in Chicago and traveling 70 countries across 7 continents, Cynthia (also @cynthiatravels) began crafting yoga retreats in the way she likes to travel – through adventure, community, discovering new limits, and giving back. She’s driven by a desire to discover what magic happens when we live with wild abandon, give without expectation, and love without fear.

The Wondering Creative

Mate (pronounced maté like the Argentinian tea!) is a freelance branding consultant with a wide range of experience in video production, photography and digital marketing. Originally from Czech Republic, he is currently based all over the world. He’s obsessed with nature and the people he meets everyday in the streets, and how new technologies shape our world today and the way we live.

After photographing several of Cynthia’s yoga events in Malaysia, he started joining yoga classes and her retreats in Bali before joining forces to start Ananda Vibes Yoga Adventure Retreats. Mate’s role in the retreats include branding, organization, and content, as well as sharing his professional talents in photographing, videography, and droning to capture the pure magic in the moments. In the Maldives, he will be conducting workshops on photo/videography.

Our Compassionate Chef and Yogi

After joining 3 of Cynthia & Ananda Vibes’s retreats in 2017 and 2018, this multi-healer joins us officially on the Retreat Team as our vegan chef, Ashtanga yoga teacher, and masseuse offering Thai, Swedish, deep tissue, sports massages you can book privately!

Having taught children for over 9 years as a teacher, yoga also has been a big part of Amy Cunningham‘s life for over 6 years. Her passion and dedication to the Ashtanga practice has helped her to develop discipline, strength, flexibility, courage and determination both on and off the mat. For her, yoga is about dedicating time and energy for yourself; to focus inward and observe your mind’s thoughts and your body’s movement without any judgement. Her teaching style follows a more classical approach to yoga with a strong emphasis on breath control, alignment and safe mindful movements.

Amy is also passionate about veganism and massage! 3 years ago, for environmental and health reasons, Amy made the conscious decision to try and live her life a little more compassionately by adopting a plant based diet and lifestyle. She aims to create wholesome, delicious and nutritious food to share with family and friends. She has also completed massage courses in Thai Royal Massage as well as Thai Swedish Massage, and is currently completing a Deep Tissue Sports Massage course as well.

The Travel Man

Patrick is a seasoned traveler and yogi whose passion for the world becomes immediately apparent through his practice on and off the mat. He first discovered yoga during his time as a Divemaster in Australia, where he quickly realized he was neither as strong nor as flexible as he believed himself to be. He was immediately hooked on the physical challenge, subsequently taking him down a beautiful path of self-exploration, beginning with the asanas and turning into so much more.

Patrick spends his summers working as a tour guide, leading luxury biking trips across the globe and helping guests navigate novel experiences with a playful yet professional style. During his off time, he dedicates his days to practicing Yoga, meditation, and becoming more in tune with how our internal worlds interact with our external one. For Patrick, teaching Yoga is a precious chance to help others find love and compassion for themselves as well as the world around them. He believes that everyone can benefit from their own Yoga practice, and if we utilize this powerful tool in our daily lives, the world will become a more harmonious place.
