Our Experience

Yoga Retreats, Re-Designed. “YOGA WEEK” Adventure Retreat in Bali: 7 days with 4 teachers offering 10 styles of yoga at a stunning seaside villa. What better way to take a week for yourself (over Easter!) to have fun while growing outside your comfort zone and exploring this magical Island of the Gods?

From April 15 to 21st, four yoga teachers (bios below) – Cynthiã Wõng (USA), Sthephane Tomani (Brazil), Katie Cunningham and Amy Cunningham (sisters from Australia!) – will come together to offer 10 styles of yoga… and no, you don’t need any experience or to be familiar with any/all of the above styles!

Our Adventures

From when we open our eyes each day to practice yoga facing the ocean as the sun comes up, to that day’s activity or excursion, until we dip our feet in the pool at night or go for evening swims under the stars, rest assured you’ll be taken care of. You’ll leave refreshed, recharged, rejuvenated, impressed with how far you’ve come in your journey.

Together, we’ll embark on a journey to rediscover who you always were, commit to stepping into our best selves, laugh til our belly hurts, and dance like no monkeys are watching. Yes, monkeys! The sunrise cover photo by Mate Valtr is taken from our April 2018 retreat… and where we will also have a conscious dance party at sunrise. This week will be filled with as many adventures to discover some of what this island has to offer, as well as for you to dive within yourself.

Our Home

Having spent plenty of time visiting and exploring Bali, this is the probably our absolute favorite villa, which says a lot! This villa is dreamy and just meters away from the pool, is the true infinity pool – the ocean! Jump in after yoga or anytime with the volcanic sand underneath you and with Mt Agung – the tallest volcano on Bali – looming over you.

At an isolated beach away from the hustle and bustle of tourism you often find in Bali. The beach house of the previous Indonesian president is almost next door! Just walk out from your room, and you’ll see the colorful Balinese fishing boats lined up along the beach and the early morning surfers out catching waves. We promise it is as unreal as it sounds.

Our Family

Join our Ananda Vibes Family! We’ll journey together and re-define the meaning of what a typical “yoga retreat” stands for. It’s not just yoga drills and dwelling in a stiff meditation pose all day long. What Ananda Vibes stands for is blissful vibes, great community, conscious co-living, soulful conversations, liberation of life, but most importantly, really epic fun times!

Join us and you’ll experience why people can’t stop smiling and come back for a second – or even third – retreat with us! From all over the world and all walks of life, come together as strangers and leave as family.

We are so grateful to have on average 15-30% of each retreat filled with prior retreaters returning from all over the world! We’re honored people had such a wonderful first retreat that they’ll come back for more, even if it’s the same paradise! We want to thank you, please email for the Ananda Vibes Family Lifetime Gratitude Gift.

Cynthia Wong (@cynthiatravels @cynthia_activeyogi)

A Yogi on a Mission

Cynthia is on a mission to empower people to become who they truly are. She sees yoga, traveling, and yoga adventure retreats as transformative tools to re-connect to ourselves and step into the person we’ve always known we can be. Her passion is creating experimental events and journeys through senses, breath, movement, environment, music while building conscious strong communities.

Cynthia’s received 4 yoga certifications in Bali – 200hr Vinyasa Yoga and 20hr Standup Paddleboard Yoga in 2015, 85hr Pre/Postnatal Vinyasa Yoga in 2017, and 200hr Shamanic Yoga & Restorative Yoga in 2018. She believes nothing compares to being in nature, and over the years has taught some 150 classes, outdoors across 12 cities and islands.

While born and raised in Chicago and traveling 70 countries across 7 continents, Cynthia (also @cynthiatravels) began crafting yoga retreats in the way she likes to travel – through adventure, community, discovering new limits, and giving back. She’s driven by a desire to discover what magic happens when we live with wild abandon, give without expectation, and love without fear.

Sthephane Tomani (@yogadone)

The Brazilian Multi Healer

As our guest teacher at the Bali Christmas 2017 Retreat, we’re exciting to bring back this beautiful teacher! From Brazil, Sthephane studied at one of the most traditional schools in Brazil (Narayana School). Moved by her love of freedom, Sthephane brings the focus on the present to help progressively break free from the shackles of the past and the anxieties of waiting for the future.

Her classes are based on Hatha Yoga and alignment, the classical method in the search for balance, spiced up with cues from other styles such as Hatha Vinyasa to suit each student and lesson. She’s offered classes at the most famous yoga schools in Sao Paulo, Brazil, an online class more than 500 women attended for a course to empower the sacred feminine, teaches a series of class in open parks, and also taught in India and Indonesia.

During her journey through the oriental healing teachings, she came across Reiki, the cure with vital energy with the imposition of the hands and immediately felt a calling, to study and share this amazing energy with the world. She also studied Thai Massage in the traditional ITM in Chiang Mai to have more knowledge about different types of body and health ways to cure the mind and soul. Follow her adventures on Instagram!

Amy Cunningham (@amy.cunningham.yoga)

Our Chef, Yogi, & Masseuse

After joining 3 of Cynthia & Ananda Vibes’s retreats in 2017 and 2018, this multi-healer joins us officially on the Retreat Team as our vegan chef, Ashtanga yoga teacher, and masseuse offering Thai, Swedish, deep tissue, sports massages you can book privately!

Having taught children for over 9 years as a teacher, yoga also has been a big part of Amy Cunningham‘s life for over 6 years. Her passion and dedication to the Ashtanga practice has helped her to develop discipline, strength, flexibility, courage and determination both on and off the mat. For her, yoga is about dedicating time and energy for yourself; to focus inward and observe your mind’s thoughts and your body’s movement without any judgement. Her teaching style follows a more classical approach to yoga with a strong emphasis on breath control, alignment and safe mindful movements.

Amy is also passionate about veganism and massage! 3 years ago, for environmental and health reasons, Amy made the conscious decision to try and live her life a little more compassionately by adopting a plant based diet and lifestyle. She aims to create wholesome, delicious and nutritious food to share with family and friends. She has also completed massage courses in Thai Royal Massage as well as Thai Swedish Massage, and is currently completing a Deep Tissue Sports Massage course as well.

Katie Cunningham (@katiemsee)

Our Chef, Yogi & Masseuse

Katie began yoga on a trip to India in 2009 at the Sivananda Ashram in Trivandrum. She fell in love with the feeling yoga generated in her body and mind; a sense of strength, calmness and clarity from regular daily self practice. Her trainings include 500 hrs in Hatha and Vinyasa with Yogacharya Bharath Shetty in Mysore, India in 2015. She studied Pranavashya Yoga in 2016 with Vinay Kumar, a dynamic vinyasa style with strong emphasis on breathing. Over the last 3 years she dedicated 10 months in Mysore practicing Pranavashya, pranayama and backbending with Vinay. She recently completed her third teacher training, Ashtanga with Vijay Kumar. She believes the true benefits of a yogic lifestyle comes from establishing a sincere daily practice of healthy eating, asana, pranayama and meditation; each contributing equal importance to the overall health and well-being of a happy body, mind and soul.

Katie’s passion for creating and sharing good food with family and friends led her to undertake an advanced culinary course in England in 2014. After completing this training, and after becoming vegetarian in 2015, Katie adopted a more sustainable and health conscious approach to food. Her appreciation and knowledge of fine foods and service was invaluable during the five years working on superyachts in the Mediterranean, Europe and Caribbean. Katie is most content when she is able to combine her three passions; travel, sharing her yogic lifestyle and sharing wholesome, nutritious, tasty and flamboyant food with her family, friends and students!

What People Say About Us

"I’ve never done yoga. Ever. Ananda Vibes lives up to its name and mission, introducing an incredibly liberating way of life that guarantees to elevate you from your usual nine-to-five routine. From the moment I arrived in paradise, to sleeping under the stars on the final night there, this retreat was a profound experience that I will not forget in a hurry."

Justin Lau

Consultant & Adventurer, Hong Kong

"I recently joined the yoga retreat to the Perhentian Islands in Malaysia and it was simply amazing! Cynthia is a wonderful host as she is extremely patient and accommodating, and her relaxed vibe and positivity is infectious. I'm very much a beginner yogi and was a touch anxious going into my first yoga retreat. As it turns out, there was no need to be as both Cynthia and Yoshi were always attentive and provided alternative poses to suit all abilities within the group. The yoga itself was varied (think handstands, headstands, flexibility, meditation and even acroyoga!) and open to the needs of the group.

On top of the great yoga sessions we also had a variety of exciting excursions which allowed us to see more of the island. Each day was an adventure! We visited lots of different beaches, swim with sharks & turtles, learned how to poi, experience the nightlife and local food. The entire retreat was also captured by Mate, who's pictures/videos/drone shots will allow you to relive all the good vibes

Thank you so much Cynthia and Mate of Ananda Vibes. Can't wait to join you both for another retreat soon!"

Restaurant Manager & Fitness Blogger at ChewPuffs.com, Malaysia/UK

"I was lucky to join 3 of Cynthia’s yoga retreats in 2017 and 2018! The one at Perhentian islands in Malaysia was an incredible first intro to Acroyoga at gorgeous beaches. One of things that makes Cynthia’s retreats special is trying new things – acroyoga, snorkeling with turtles and sharks, climbing a volcano at sunrise on Christmas Day, giving back to the volcano refugee camp, SUP yoga, or serious self reflection, and connecting with new friends. Many of us still get drinks together in Kuala Lumpur! I practice yoga frequently and I absolutely loved Cynthia’s yoga classes. They’re always dynamic and uplifting, leaving me refreshed, relaxed and very peaceful after. She’s an amazing host, planning plenty of sightseeing and group activities, yet so open to suggestions and adjusting plans or yoga styles based on how we feel and what we need. I recommend her retreats to anyone looking for an exciting holiday, to recharge and chance to make new friends while having so much fun doing so!”

Amy Cunningham

Teacher, masseuse, & avid yogi, Australia

Going on one of Cynthia’s retreats was the highlight of 2017 for me and that is saying something with all the places I got to travel to! My biggest concern with retreats has always been, 'will I get along with the people I will see all day/everyday?!' This will never be a concern of mine if I continue to book with Cynthia. She attracts the most amazing people to her because of her easy going personality and positive vibes and because of that, her retreats will always be filled with people who are open to trying new things, visiting new places and meeting new people. She is also an amazing yoga instructor who gives clear and easy to follow instructions for beginner yogis but can also challenge the more advanced people. I walked away from the Perhentian Island retreat with a lot of new friends in the world that I still am in contact with 9 months later, feeling refreshed and having seen some of the most gorgeous parts of this planet that I would have never found without her. I can’t wait to see where a future retreat will take me!

Brandi Bratek

Master Resilience Trainer & Performance Expert , USA/Germany

Thanks to Facebook I accidentally stumbled upon Cynthia Wong being a Yoga instructor in Malaysia. I spend six weeks in Malaysia last year and went to one of her Yoga in the Park classes. It immediately struck me that she is a very special person and when she told me that she will have a Yoga Retreat in the Perhentians later that month I knew my wife and I had to be a part of it. And joining that retreat was one of our best decisions last year. Not only was Cynthia a fantastic teacher (even for a relative newbie like me) but her personality and care for other people made this one of the best holiday experiences we ever had. The yoga lessons were fantastic and the other activities were just an absolute blast with an incredible group of people who became friends for life. Cynthia did a great job making everybody feel welcome in the group and connecting all personalities. I am excited that Ananda and Cynthia are partnering up to offer Yoga experiences all over the world and hopefully we can soon find one again that we can join. I would give this 10 stars if i could. Thanks again 🙂

I was in Bali last Christmas at the most awesome yoga retreat with the most incredible humans. If you ever get the chance to go on a retreat with this Wonder Woman - Cynthia - jump at the chance.. my life has changed in so many ways since this experience... 💜

Lisa Walker

Teacher & human rights advocate, United Kingdom

"The retreat was a very intimate and soulful experience, full of activities that engage one soulfully. The necessary conditions were present for one to get in the mood for fun-filled self discovery and mindfulness."

Sahil Arora

Serial entrepreneur & daily yoga practitioner, India

"I took part in Cynthia's yoga retreat in Bali and I couldn't have been happier with my experience and the ambience of the retreat. Our villa was amazing and I felt like being spoilt but also homely from the very beginning. Besides the villa and all the yoga, I also loved all the other activities Cynthia planned, such as getting purified in holy water at a Water Temple, energy healing and climbing a volcano at 4am for sunrise. There was never a dull moment - and if you felt too tired, taking a nap instead of taking part in anything was always allowed!"

Bettina Hernberg

Health foods entrepreneur & yoga teacher, Finland

"Cynthia’s Bali retreat was exactly what the doctor ordered! The villa we were housed in was an oasis set in the paradise that is Bali. Cynthia was generously accommodating in ensuring we had enough time and activities to explore Bali, while still getting our yoga fix in. While scaling volcanos and dipping in hot springs, a sense of genuine community was formed between all the yogis as well. It was wonderful being surrounded by such a diverse but welcoming group of beautiful individuals. This retreat was one that rejuvenated and nourished my body, mind, and spirit - leaving me inspired and excited for all there is to come!"
